Colorado has two national historic sites which tell the story about the relations of Europe and the US with Native Americans. These historic sites would be: Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site, located near La Junta and is an adobe fur trading post in the 1840s that has now been restored; and the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site is located near Chivington.
